"Werewolf: The Apocalypse — The Book of Hungry Names" is an interactive novel by Kyle Marquis set in the World of Darkness. It's a text-based adventure consisting of 1.6 million words without visual or auditory elements, offering an immersive experience driven by unlimited imagination.

Set in a world where werewolves are the last guardians of the living earth, you embody various roles - a shapeshifter, mystic, hero, and monster. Your mission as a werewolf is to prevent humanity from destroying the world, gifted with the ability to transform between human and wolf forms, bestowed upon you by Gaia.

The storyline unfolds when three years ago, werewolf packs formed a Sept in Broad Brook, Massachusetts, to combat the Wyrm, the antagonist of Gaia. Despite other Septs succumbing to the Wyrm or succumbing to internal conflicts caused by Rage, Broad Brook prospered - believed by many to be the saviors who would halt the impending Apocalypse.

However, their victory was short-lived as a Wyrm Spirit named "the Answering Tiger" razed the Broad Brook Sept one fateful night, desecrating its caern. The perception of thriving within the Sept was merely an illusion crafted by the deceptive Tiger. What once appeared as trust among tribes masked underlying resentments fueled by growing Rage; where safety was presumed, vulnerabilities were lying in wait for exploitation. While they thought they were fighting the Wyrm, acts of atrocity against innocents were committed and reported as glorious triumphs to other Septs.

Blinded by their hubris, the werewolves fell prey to the machinations of the Wyrm Spirit and destroyed themselves largely from within. Accompanied by monstrous Banes, fomori, and werewolves allied with the Wyrm, they eradicated any remaining survivors.

Now entrusted with a new task by Stormcat, once the Patron Spirit of Broad Brook Sept, you must lead the survivors in rebuilding a pack and confronting the Answering Tiger amidst the untamed wilderness and decaying settlements of New England.
